What is a registered dietitian
Registered Dietitian vs. (self-proclaimed) Nutritionist vs. Health Coach vs. Holistic Nutritionist
Every Dietitian is a Nutritionist, but not every Nutritionist is a Dietitian, Makes sense? Basically, Don't trust everyone with a nice body. Everyone is different, from genes, to medical history, to gender, to age. Every case is different. Registered Dietitians are the nutrition experts. What makes us different? Registered Dietitians go to school for 5 to 7 years (are usually in a huge hole of student loans), and must complete a 1 year internship in a hospital and a board exam to become registered. From a broad range of medical conditions to labs, to weight loss, we study all angles of nutrition and biology by reviewing and staying up to date to evidenced based nutrition research. Self-proclaimed nutritionists, health coaches, holistic nutritionists do not require any formal education or training requirements, follow fads, and can not legally work in any health care facility. If you're interested in hiring a nutrition expert, ask the important question of, "Did you take a board exam to become Registered?"
